Disingenuous Twaddle Issue One

My poem, Head IV, has been published on the Disingenuous Twaddle blog. It appears as one of six pieces to be included in issue one of the online art journal, run by a couple students from Royal Holloway university. It is quite an old poem and was included within the zine The Pope’s Head Exploded, which was published by the Dans Le Matin collective a while ago.

Never Again street performance

Short edit of a documentary made about one of my projects, by Fiona Allison. Called Never Again, the project was based upon using collages of historical photographs to redecorate redundant space withing the town of Egham. Also documented with photographs by myself and references from local history books, the project was collected into a one off booklet/dvd format. There were five pastings in total, three of which can be seen here. I may be printing some of the booklets into A5 size sometime soon.

ZINE BRO

Just found this picture on a blog called Jiraffe. It’s from Brighton Zinefest and is a neat little depiction of the Dead Trees And Dye stall. You can see Owen’s zine Salutations and then peaking out of his mega A4 photofest, P.S – Pozdrowienia. The covers to both zines were designed by Matthew Walkerdine. And you should read the other posts or look to the right for links, ‘cos I can’t keep URLing my bros in every post. Instead, go here. The Jiraffe blog is pretty neat and the zine that was apparently made in half a day looks ace. HOLLA!

P.S – Pozdrowienia Performance #2

Tomorrow Fiona and I will be performing P.S – Pozdrowienia again. We’ll be reading/playing at The Boilerhouse, a bi annual event that showcases new writing at Royal Holloway University. We did the first performance at Brighton Zinefest at the weekend, a stripped down version that consited of my voice and Fiona’s violin. For The Boilerhouse we’re bringing the full line up, which means we’ll be getting a little noisier. It starts at 8pm at the Boilerhouse (above) on RHUL campus. Should be fun.

Br-irie-ton!

Back from Brighton town safe and sound; suburban blues swapped for dance moves and ale… So the story goes:

Friday – we hit the Cowley Club for some needed noise action. Good bands and cheap Oranjeboom made me smile and pogo and realise that I’m coming back round to punk rock again. Saw DJ Derek (above) for afters down on the seafront, with Unity HiFi who totally killed it. Long walk home to Hove with our host Henry made us happy to be alive/at rest on a sofa. Saturday and living the dream – hummus toast, smoothie made with fruit treasures lifted from CO-OP bins, banana and a fourteen inch fry-up made up the cure before hitting the Zinefest. I managed to get Owen’s new zine, the latest Sauna Youth tape, the Rum-Muffel split and a couple smokin’ hot joints from Peter Willis. Then record shopping through town. Nuff said!

I released my new zine/cd-r combo P.S Pozdrowienia (pictures soon) at the zinefest on Peter’s stall. He runs one of the soundest distros around, Dead Trees And Dye. It’s a navigation through memory based on poetry formed while tracing travel/family album photos with felt tips and thick pencils. For the soiree on the saturday night I read P.S Pozdrowienia accompanied by Fiona Allison, who played violin. It was really fun and pretty nerve wrecking but we pulled it off OK. Massive love to Toby who gave us the opportunity to perform and put his trust in us. We had an ace time all weekend.

Footage from the performance and of the zine will appear shortly. I managed to trade/give away/sell most of the run though, so it hasn’t lasted long. More soon for sure though!

Brighton Zine Fest ’10

Brighton Zine Fest this weekend! I had a stall with Dans Le Matin last year but we’ve gone a bit slack, so this time I’m goin’ solo. Should be bringing a new zine/recording to sell on the Dead Trees And Dye stall and doing a reading at the soiree. Should be a lot of fun. Plus Sauna Youth and Arteries are playing the friday night. YUP!
